Multiple sensors which are hard-wired to the predict crashes and do their absolute best to avoid any mishaps. For instance Volvo has a built in city sensor, which recieves live feed through the device and apply brakes if the object moving infront of you comes to a grinding halt.
And the process if fully automated in itself, so distracted drivers can benefit from these safety technology. Similarly, there is lane departure warning: which senses any unwarranted lane movements, displaying it to the driver. Mercedes, also incorporated night vision cameras on the front bumper which transmits live feed to the driver, displaying any stray animal or pedestrain.
Striving for safety in itself is a good thing. Google’s prototype driver less car also aimed at same purpose of reducing fatalties on the road. Give the prototype is under testing and no one can stand against human-brain in judging real-time emergency manuvoers, I don’t think the prototype would see the light of the day in a long time to come.
GPS are thing of the past, the latest mobile phones garuantee that a phone is used far beyond it’s native use of just making calls. Now, your phone serves as a GPS, dash-camera, entertainement device(media carrier), handsfree which honestly serves as a life-saver; though even on handsfree it isn’t advisable to be on the phone while driving, permium car makers have their dedicated application which can be installed on the phone to remotely lock the car, and modify many other minor setting well within the car. BMW, Idrive and it’s sync with the mobile app is phenomenal. It can even suggest you the nearest service center, call emergency services an also monitor the basic air-pressure.
Best thing about the phone is it can be charged on the go using a 12v standard socket.
But with all these tech the responsibility lies in the hands of the driver: to not be distracted by surge of information, to stay focussed on driving. There’s no denying the fact that Tech is needed in order to improve automotive safety, but most importantly the driver at the helm is the sole bearer of improving safety.
