Want to make your Laptop an Android tablet running Lollipop 5.0.2? Here's how!

Feeling the lack of Android phone? Bored using Windows PC or phone? Then you must definitely try this out. OK, I am not fooling you teliing about BlueStacks or Genymotion. This is a pure Stock Android having all the attributes of an Android tablet. In this post you're gonna see how to dual boot Android Lollipop 5.0.2 and windows in a single system. Ain't that interesting? As a very few knew this, I got an idea of sharing this with you now. Alright, If you're familiar about changing OS and making a bootable flash drive then this will be easy for you. Anyway I am going to give you full description and download links below to achieve the title. So be precise in making every step because its YOU who's gonna loose your data if you go wrong, NOT WE.

All you need to have:

* A 4GB USB flashdrive.

* Any intel based laptop/PC.

Firstly, Download all these required files.

Note : If you're a Windows 8 user then you guys have to struggle a bit to have Android alongside because the fastboot of Windows 8 is known for its security. It won’t let you into the Grub menu for choosing which OS to boot. If your Laptop or PC cames with windows 8 preinstalled then you have to disable the UEFI and other Secure boot settings which you can find under advanced startup options.

Step 1 : Plug in the USB drive to your laptop/PC.

Step 2 : Open Universal USB installer and browse for the iso file you downloaded before. Select Android as Linux Distribution. Make sure you check the format drive option available there and click on 'Create'.

Step 3 : Now, Reboot your laptop into BIOS by pressing F2 or F12 at initial stage of booting.Now enter into system “Boot Menu” and set first boot priority to “USB drive”. Save the changes using F10 and exit.

Step 4 : When you reboot now, you should find grub like interface to select mode of installation. Go ahead and select the “Install Android to harddisk”. In the next screen you need to choose partition where your Android x86 has to be installed. If you're are choosing new then its better to format it , install on a drive that won’t pop any error.

Step 6: A few prompts will appear to complete your installation. Simple hit yes for all. If you’re installing ICS or earlier, you will get another prompt to install virtual. Use 1800 MB for space, as that’s the maximum supported. Probably, this should be your internal memory.

Now wait for the installation to complete.

Step 7: One above steps are done, reboot the laptop and while booting you should see the Grub asking you choose which OS you want to boot into. Choose Android and you will see your Laptop/PC in a very new look.

How you need to activate their Android device:

There is a positive along with a negetive in this Android x86. Positive is that it supports External USB drives and the negetive is, the local drives aren’t visible. The memory which you allocated while installation comes under Internal storage for apps and their data. So you will have less space to maintain media files. However, this can be solved by using a USB just like how you use OTG on your Android Tablet. But i never tried connecting a powerfull harddisk of about 500GB or 1TB. Though the OS comes with a basic File Manager but the ES file explorer is recommended. And for Copying or sending files we have plenty of apps. Now this is important, after installation goto settings and set screen timeout to “Never” and Screen Orientation to “Landscape”. And since this is now a 32 bit OS, don’t expect high resolution on your Laptop.

By following this very simple steps you can use the latest Android Lollipop 5.0.2 without any purchase of an Android phone/tablet. If you are worried about using a Dualboot system, you can make a portable USB flashdrive to run the Android x86. This will be very much usefull for those who want to give any project reviews and app demonstrations. Those who are bored using Windows phone or IOS can give this a try. If you are facing any difficuilties while installation, comment below with no shy. Thank You :)
